OPPORTUNITY ZONEAs part of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Benson was designated an Opportunity Zone. Situated along trade routes Interstate 10, State Route 80, State Route 90 and the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad and less than two hours from two Ports of Entry Benson is uniquely poised to expand into a a freight and long-haul economic center. GENERAL INFORMATION
Arizona Electric Power Cooperative, Inc., Apache Nitrogen Products, Benson School District and the Benson Hospital are the area's major employers. In addition to retail chain stores, there are several unique specialty shops found on the main 4th Street that offers a variety of goods. Many residents, however, commute to Tucson and Sierra Vista for employment and shopping.
The City supports a large retired population and is a winter refuge for visitors from colder climates. Its nearby historic and scenic sites are increasingly popular with tourists.

Benson Airport Information

Benson Municipal Airport E95
Benson Municipal Airport is now a full-service, general aviation airport offering AVGAS and Jet A fuel, flight training, aircraft rental and aircraft sales.
The Airport is located 3 miles northwest of the the City. To visit the airport, drive north on Ocotillo for 1 mile past the interstate, then turn left on Aviation Drive for 3.2 miles.
