Kartchner State Parks Summer Camps

 

Day 1: It's all about the rocks!   June 6,  2023 at 3:30pm - 5:00pm

We will learn about the three types of rocks and how they have helped make Kartchner caverns. We will do an activity on those three types and then take a short hike on the foothills loop after.

 

Day 2: What's in a cave? June 13, 2023 at 3:30pm - 5:00pm

We will go over how the cave came to be and the formation inside. We will do a build your own cave experiment and then take a short hike.

 

Day 3: The wonders of bats! June 20, 2023 at 3:30pm - 5:00pm

We will talk about the amazing bats and what they do for us and need to survive. We will then do activities practicing using other senses besides sight similar to bats. After the activities we will take a 30 minute trip into the Throne Room and watch an amazing light show to show off all that was learned these last three days.

 

Day 4: Forest Service Fire prevention and Smokey Bear program. June 27, 2023 at 3:30- 5:00pm

The amazing Fire Prevention Specialist Rebecca Hodgeson Balderas from the Sierra Vista Ranger District. will be presenting to kids camp on campfire safety and fire prevention. Along with her will be an exciting visitor :SMOKEY BEAR! You don't want to miss it!

 

Please make sure you have plenty of water and sunscreen. Also please bring a hat, closed toed shoes, and comfortable hiking clothes.
